Tribal Belly Dance
Tribal Bellydance is different from other genres of bellydance by being a fusion style that draws upon many ethnic and modern dances for influence. It’s also an improvisational style of the dance, based on a system of movements and cues. Group interaction and a strong sense of communication between the dancers whilst dancing are an exciting element of Tribal Bellydance.
The Tribal Bellydance costuming is also distinctive from other bellydance styles. The traditional ATS tribal costumes draw influences from many ethnic backgrounds, including Indian, Flamenco, Egyptian, while the Tribal Fusion Bellydance costuming is influenced by steam punk and modern dance and trends.
All Tribal Bellydance classes focus on learning technique, moves and cues that form the vocabulary of the dance – we do not learn choreographies in class. The basic vocabulary is based on ATS as created and taught by Carolena Nericcio of FatChance Bellydance, with original Rashani moves and variations being taught at improvers and advanced levels.
